الوزير: عرض مشروع «القطار السريع» بالمعرض رمز للصداقة المصرية الألمانية

During his visit to the German capital Berlin to participate in the activities of InnoTrans 2024, which is the largest trade fair for transportation technology in the world, during which the latest innovations in railway and transportation systems are reviewed in the presence of industry leaders and specialists in this sector at the global level. The exhibition also highlights a wide range of products and services, including railway technology, infrastructure and mass transit solutions, interior designs, and tunnel construction.

Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, accompanied by Dr. Volker Wissing, German Minister of Transport, and Mr. Ronald Busch, President of Siemens International, inspected the Velaro train, designated for the trains of the first line of the Egyptian high-speed electric train network, which the global manufacturer Siemens is displaying at the Siemens Mobility pavilion at the exhibition, where The manufacturing of 3 express trains (Velaro) has been completed and 2 more trains are being manufactured out of a total of 15 express trains. The manufacturing of 5 regional trains (Desiro) has also been completed, one of which has arrived in Cairo, and 7 more trains are being manufactured out of a total of 34 regional trains. In addition, the manufacturing of 2 electric freight locomotives has been completed out of a total of 14 freight locomotives designated for the first line.

The Velaro train is distinguished by its innovative design and advanced technological solutions, providing the highest levels of comfort, entertainment and safety, making it the first and best choice for modern railway systems around the world. The train is also distinguished by With its passenger information display screens, luxurious interior designs, and seating arrangement inside the train to suit the needs of families, these advanced features will greatly improve the travel experience and provide more comfort for passengers. The Velaro high-speed train will be an important addition to the transportation network in Egypt.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport stressed that the display of the Velaro train, which is dedicated to the trains of the first line of the Egyptian high-speed electric train network, at the most important trade fair for transportation technology in the world, reflects an important message that this project is a symbol of the Egyptian-German friendship and embodies the strong relations between the political leadership in the two countries and between the two friendly peoples. He thanked the German government, people, and companies for participating in development in Egypt through cooperation with the Egyptian side in implementing a large number of giant projects.  Emphasizing the aspiration for more cooperation between the two sides to achieve comprehensive development and serve the Egyptian people.

 

Then the Minister held an expanded meeting inside one of the train carriages with the President and leaders of Siemens International  inside one of the train carriages, where the progress of the finishing works for the stations of the first line of the high-speed electric train network (Sokhna – El Alamein – Marsa Matrouh) and the track sectors that have been and are being handed over to the (Siemens / Orascom / Arab Contractors) alliance to implement the basalt paving works and install the rails and electric catenary poles, after which the electromechanical works will be implemented. The necessity of adhering to the planned dates for completing all project implementation works according to international quality standards  and adhering to the date of supplies for the mobile units 

 

The Minister confirmed that the implementation works  The high-speed electric train network embodies a great epic being implemented on land, and that by implementing the first line of the network, the connection between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea by land will be achieved to be like a new Suez Canal on rails, noting that this network It will cover all parts of the Republic, in addition to being development arteries, serving new and existing urban and industrial areas, serving tourist areas in Egypt, as well as serving new agricultural areas, in addition to contributing to creating logistical hubs linking the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, the north and south of the country, linking industrial areas (production areas) to seaports (export centers), as well as linking modern agricultural development areas (New Delta – West Minya – Toshka – Egypt’s Future – …) to consumption areas and export ports.

 

This network will also contribute to achieving integration with airports, seaports and land routes to achieve the concept of multi-modal transport and linking seaports, dry ports and logistical centers, serving the freight transport system between ports, as well as serving the goals of sustainable urban development, creating new development hubs and reducing environmental pollution. The three lines of the high-speed electric train network also provide thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities, as well as serving the movement of passengers and goods, contributing to stimulating industry, internal and external trade, and stimulating tourism of all kinds, as it passes through many coastal cities on the Red and Mediterranean Seas and many cultural and religious sites. It will serve the world of businessmen and investment as it passes through the administrative capital.

 

It is worth mentioning that the high-speed electric train network is being implemented by the (German Siemens – Orascom – Arab Contractors) alliance with a total length of 2000 km, which includes three lines: (The first line is Sokhna / El Alamein / Matrouh, and the second line is 6th of October / Luxor / Aswan / Abu Simbel with a length of 1100 km, and the third line is Qena – Hurghada – Safaga with a length of 175 km in addition to 65 km for workshop entrances and connections to dry ports and storage rails. The total number of stations on the three lines is 60 stations with a total number of 2 main workshops and 6 light overhaul workshops. It is also worth noting that when the high-speed electric train network is completed in Egypt, Egypt will rank sixth in the list of the largest national high-speed railway networks in the world, and the network will be available to 90% of Egypt’s population in 60 cities, which will contribute to enhancing the country’s sustainable economic development. On the sidelines of the exhibition, the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry inaugurated the pavilions of the two Egyptian national companies, Orascom and Nerco, where the Minister praised the role of Egyptian national companies in implementing projects. Nationalism in various fields, including the fields of transportation and industry, pointing to the great interest that the Egyptian government attaches to cooperation and partnership with the private sector in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, to maximize the role of the private sector in implementing various projects. The Minister also held a series of meetings with heads of international companies that cooperate with the Ministry of Transportation in implementing a number of projects in the field of metro and railways, where the Minister met with the Chairman and leaders of the French company Colas Rail to follow up on the implementation rates of a number of projects, such as the Alexandria Metro project (Abu Qir – Misr Station), where a contract was signed with the “Orascom Construction – Colas Rail” alliance to implement the infrastructure works for the project. Then the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry met with the Chairman and officials of the South Korean company Hyundai Rotem, where the Minister confirmed On the depth of Egyptian-South Korean relations, stressing the aspiration to increase the volume of cooperation between the two sides during the coming period. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the executive position of a number of joint projects, including railway projects such as the project to modernize signaling and communications systems on the 118 km Nag Hammadi/Luxor railway line, as well as joint cooperation in the field of the subway, such as cooperation in the field of localizing the manufacture of subway trains in Egypt through the manufacture of 40 subway trains (320 cars) in partnership between the Korean company Hyundai Rotem and the company NERC in the NERC factory in East Port Said.

Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir also held a meeting with Dr. Martin Herrenknecht, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the German company “Herrenknecht”, specialized in the manufacture of tunneling machines, inside one of the cars of the Velaro train to discuss strengthening cooperation between the two sides. The Minister praised the distinguished cooperation between the two sides, which included the German company supplying giant machines; It contributed to the implementation of giant projects in the field of transportation in Egypt. The two sides discussed the latest developments in cooperation with the German company “Herrenknecht” in establishing a service, maintenance and rehabilitation center for drilling machines in Egypt, with the aim of providing technical support for the machines supplied by the company to the Egyptian market and increasing the lifespan of these machines through their maintenance and rehabilitation, as well as a plan to train 200 Egyptian engineers and technicians on the operation, maintenance and efficiency of drilling machines; including 40 trainees to work in the Egyptian market, and 160 trainees to work in Germany or abroad.

During his meeting with the chairman and officials of the Spanish company Kafa, the minister followed up on the latest developments in the project to rehabilitate 23 trains for the first metro line and the latest developments in the project to rehabilitate, develop and maintain 39 trains for the second metro line.  

& … The factory will manufacture 50 trains with high Talgo technology as a first phase and 50 Talgo trains as a second phase.

 

On the sidelines of the exhibition, Lieutenant General Engineer / Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the National Authority for Tunnels and the Federation of Companies led by Vinci (Vinci – Bouygues – Arab Contractors – Orascom Construction) to prepare the initial design and submit a technical offer to implement Phase 4C of the third line of the Greater Cairo Metro for a period of 12 months. The memorandum was signed on behalf of the National Authority for Tunnels by Dr. Tarek Goueili. Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Authority for Tunnels and on behalf of the Federation of Companies, Mr. Patrick Kadry, CEO of Vinci, Mr. Vincent Avrillon, CEO of Bouygues, Mr. Eng. Ahmed El-Assar, CEO of Arab Contractors, Mr. Eng. Osama Bishai, CEO of Orascom Construction. The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the Ministry of Transport is studying extending the third metro line and implementing phase 4C in a tunnel path from Heliopolis station to Cairo International Airport, to connect this vital area to the metro network and the electric traction railway network as well, considering that the third metro line is the link between all components of the electric traction railway network to exchange passenger transport service with it (the first metro line at Nasser station – the second metro line at Attaba and Cairo University stations – the sixth metro line at Abbassia station – the light electric train at Adly Mansour Central Station – the East Nile Monorail at Al-Ustad station – West Nile Monorail at Wadi El Nil Station), in addition to serving airport visitors and population densities along the path of this phase. 

 

Adding  that the consortium of companies led by Vinci Company was chosen as the implementing contractor for the first, second and third phases of the third line of the metro, as well as the tunnel section of the fourth phase, so that there is compatibility in all project systems (signals – communications – control – …), as well as applying the same technical specifications. Also, according to the memorandum of understanding, the consortium of companies will submit the initial design and technical and financial offer for the project and determine the most appropriate path for the phase in coordination with the relevant authorities, so that future contracting procedures for implementation are completed.
