The media center of the National Food Safety Authority issued its 40th weekly report For the year 2024, for the period from 19 – October 25, which included many efforts, which began with the activities of the Authority’s departments, where the General Administration for Factory Control carried out 12 oversight missions in cooperation with the Industrial Development Authority.

 

The number of inspection visits reached The inspection and approval department carried out 28 visits by the Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centers, and the department issued 429 export permits for agricultural crops to 333 exporting companies.

 

The number of food consignments exported reached, according to the Center’s report Information from the General Administration for both exports and imports at the Authority: 3,725 letters worth approximately 155,000 tons to 1,385 exporting companies, ranging from 585 types of flour, vegetables, and various food products.

 

Sweet potatoes topped the list. Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Libya and America represented the largest countries receiving Egyptian exports during the past week out of a total of 166 importing countries.

 

The port of Safaga ranked first in the number of Food consignments exported from it amounted to a total of 640 consignments, followed by Cairo Airport Port with 450 consignments, then Alexandria Port with a total of 430 consignments.

 

The number of incoming food consignments reached 2,270 consignments, amounting to approximately 461 thousand tons. There were 826 importing companies, ranging from 166 varieties of wheat, raw sugar and various oils from 80 countries, and Russia represented the largest country exporting to Egypt, followed by Brazil, Indonesia and America.

 

Alexandria Port came first in the number of food consignments received, with a total of 790 consignments, followed by Cairo Airport Port, which ranked second with 360 consignments, then Damietta Port, with a total of 330 consignments.

 

The General Administration for Special Food Registration and Licensing registered 29 products and 14 companies and carried out 5 monitoring visits. The administration also examined 651 new products and issued 11 free sale certificates.

 

The Strategic Commodities Administration carried out 13 An inspection visit to wheat storage sites, and 3 rice trading facilities were registered in various governorates of the Republic.

 

The total number of complaints received to the Authority reached 69 complaints from various complaint-receiving agencies. (The electronic portal for the unified government complaints system – the Council of Ministers), the Consumer Protection Agency, in addition to complaints submitted directly to the Authority. 57 complaints were closed and 12 complaints are being examined.

With regard to the management of licensing and control of tourist facilities, 82 tasks were carried out. A visit that included periodic oversight and inspection of licenses in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, the Red Sea, Aswan, Luxor and Minya.

 

The mobile food units administration carried out 21 inspection missions on the food units. In the governorates of Cairo, Gharbia, Qalyubia, Alexandria, Dakahlia and Assiut.

 

The Authority’s Grievances Committee examined 534 grievance requests received from various ports.

 

The Food Contact Factories Control Department carried out 9 oversight missions in the governorates of Cairo, Beni Suef, Sharkia, Giza, Qalyubia and Beheira.

 

The General Administration for the Control of Fish and Aquatic Products carried out 19 oversight visits to fishing boats/vessels, fish factories and suppliers, export companies, and processing units in various governorates of the Republic.

 

As for the Authority’s inspection campaigns on… Markets in various governorates, it came within the framework of the efforts of the Authority’s branches to tighten and tighten control over food establishments in implementation of the directives of Dr. Tariq Al-Hobi, Chairman of the National Food Safety Authority, to ensure the safety of the food products offered and to preserve the health of consumers in various governorates.

 

The Food Safety Branch in Gharbia Governorate implemented 28 extensive inspection campaigns on 240 food establishments to ensure the implementation of food safety requirements in the various cities and centers of the governorate (Tanta, Zefta, Qutour, Basyoun, Al-Santa, Kafr Al-Zayat, Al-Mahalla, Samannoud). These campaigns resulted in the seizure of half a ton of herring and 200 kg of nuts unfit for human consumption.

 

And within the framework of the awareness and educational role of the National Food Safety Authority to raise the level of public awareness towards improving Measures related to food safety and the promotion of sound healthy food practices. 30 food establishments were visited and directions were given to the necessity of adhering to food safety requirements in those establishments, and applying corrective measures.

The Food Safety Branch in Damietta Governorate carried out 6 joint inspection campaigns with (the Deputy Head of the Local Unit for the Center and the City, the Directorate of Supply, Veterinary Medicine, Health, and the Governorate) on 43 food facilities within the scope of the Center and the City. Kafr Saad, and these campaigns resulted in the destruction of a quantity of various foodstuffs that had expired and had changed natural properties, and the execution process took place in the presence of representatives of the Food Safety Authority and members of the formed committee.

 

The execution process was carried out. 345 kg (meat, liver, animal fat, fish…etc.) were seized due to a change in natural properties and expiration.

 

The Food Safety Branch in Dakahlia Governorate carried out 23 inspection campaigns. Some of them are shared with other regulatory authorities (the Presidency of the City Council, the Directorate of Health, Veterinary Medicine, Supply, Supply Investigations, and the Consumer Protection Agency), as 121 food establishments were visited in centers and some villages within the governorate (Mansoura, Mit Ghamr, Bani Ubaid, Dekernes). , Belqas), and these campaigns resulted in the destruction of a quantity of spoiled food.

 

The Food Safety Branch in Beheira Governorate implemented 17 inspection campaigns on 163 food facilities in the governorate centers (Damanhour, Abu Homs, Kafr Al-Dawwar, Abu Al-Matamir, Itay Al-Baroud, and Al-Nubaria). These campaigns resulted in monitoring a quantity of food packages of various types, expired and with changed natural properties, and the necessary measures were taken regarding these foodstuffs by Food Safety Authority inspectors.< /p>

 

The branch of the Food Safety Authority in Sohag Governorate carried out 3 joint inspection campaigns with the General Administration of Supply, Veterinary Medicine, the Governorate and the Sharq District, where a number of restaurants and food establishments were visited, which resulted in… These campaigns resulted in the destruction of 200 kg of meat and frozen meat with variable natural properties.

 

The branch also carried out 6 inspection campaigns on 15 food establishments within the cities and centers of the governorate, and a quantity of meat was destroyed. Of foodstuffs unfit for human consumption, and alerting food establishments that are not registered with the authority of the necessity of registering, completing licensing procedures, and implementing requirements for food safety.

 

The 10th of Ramadan branch carried out 4 inspection campaigns. On 68 food establishments in the 10th of Ramadan City and the city of Belbeis in Sharkia Governorate, these campaigns resulted in a deficiency in food safety requirements in those establishments, and they were warned and given a period to rectify their conditions and avoid violations.

 

< p>The Food Safety Branch in Al Sharqiya Governorate carried out 19 inspection campaigns, passing through 86 facilities  This occurred within the centers of (Zagazig, Deir Najm, Belbeis, Abu Hammad, Minya al-Qamh, Hahia and other centers), which resulted in the destruction of a quantity of food products that had expired and were unfit for human consumption.

 

11 food establishments that had previously been given a period to implement food safety requirements were re-visited, and the compliance of those establishments with the requirements that must be met by the food establishment was confirmed and verified, and 6 reports of the lack of food safety requirements for non-responsive establishments were issued.

The Food Safety Branch in Qalyubia Governorate carried out 8 inspection campaigns on 80 food establishments in the areas of (Banha, Toukh, Shebin El-Qanater, Qalyoub, Qaha), and the campaigns resulted in the destruction of a quantity of expired food products that had expired. It showed signs of corruption, and this quantity was destroyed according to the applicable rules. 

 

The Food Safety Branch in Menoufia Governorate implemented 19 inspection campaigns on 84 food facilities in some cities, centers and villages. Governorate (Shebin Al-Koum, Birkat Al-Sabaa, Tala, Quesna, Ashmoun, Menouf, Al-Bajour). These campaigns resulted in the seizure of a quantity of various food products that had expired and were unfit for human consumption. All of these products were destroyed in the presence of a committee of inspectors from the National Safety Authority. Food.

 

The Food Safety Branch in Badr City carried out several inspection campaigns, where 90 food establishments were visited, which resulted in the seizure of 890 kg of expired food products of unknown origin (juices, Dairy, soft drinks, meat…and other products), and all of these products were destroyed in the presence of a committee of inspectors from the National Food Safety Authority.
