The United Nations praises the experience of the Anti-Addiction Fund in the volunteerism of young men and women and their participation in preparing preventive programs and confirms that it has become an inspiring experience at the region level.

Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled, Governor of Alexandria, witnessed the closing activities of the “Our Strength in Our Youth” camp to build the capabilities of 1,000 new volunteers with the Fund for Combating Addiction at the level of the governorates of the Republic, out of a total A number of 4,000 young men and women applied to join the Fund’s Volunteer Association, and interviews were conducted for them, and those who passed the volunteer tests were selected, who had the ability to communicate and work in a team, as well as in the field, and who had different talents to invest in implementing awareness programs. They were trained through the camp, which lasted for a week in the city. The Ministers of Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports and the Governor of Alexandria inspected training workshops for young men and women, which aim to increase young people’s cognitive and skill capabilities in the field of reducing the demand for drugs, in addition to cognitive information about the harms of using narcotic substances of all kinds, the impact of synthetic drug abuse and their connection to violence and committing crimes, as well as mechanisms for early detection of abuse. Introducing the Anti-Addiction Fund’s “hotline 16023” services at the level of counseling, psychological support, treatment and rehabilitation, and urging addiction patients to come forward for treatment for free and in complete confidentiality.

During their inspection of the workshops, the Ministers of Social Solidarity, Youth and Sports and the Governor of Alexandria witnessed a simulation model for training and awareness of visual content.

Dr. Maya Morsy began her speech by thanking Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled, Governor of Alexandria, pointing out that today’s meeting comes within the framework of the continuous attention that the Egyptian state gives to youth issues and continuous communication with them, building their capabilities and empowering them in various fields, as youth have become a locomotive. Development, which is reflected in their holding many leadership positions in the country. Today, we find governors, their deputies, and assistant ministers from young people who have been trained and qualified in a scientific and practical manner, enabling them to assume these leadership positions, exercise their requirements and important tasks, and develop the framework of work with the creative and renewed visions of young people. The political leadership is also keen to open channels and windows of dialogue and communicate with young people on an ongoing basis and inform them of The challenges facing the Egyptian state in light of a regional environment full of risks.

The Minister of Social Solidarity indicated that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth, a preventive program is being implemented by targeting 1,000 youth centers and clubs annually by investing in sports activities in drug prevention, in addition to the cooperation of the Anti-Addiction Fund with the Ministry of Education to implement the largest preventive initiative led by the youth themselves in schools, targeting 10,000. School this year, and the Minister thanked Captain Mohamed Salah, captain of the national football team, who has been working as a volunteer in this field since 2015 and participated with the Anti-Addiction Fund in 8 media campaigns, where he contributed to the “You are stronger than drugs” campaign, which continued for nearly Over a decade, the demand for treatment increased by up to 400% and helped build bridges of trust among young people who fell into the clutches of addiction with the addiction treatment hotline, which provides its treatment services free of charge within 34 treatment centers in 19 governorates.

The Minister addressed the volunteers at the Anti-Addiction Fund: “You carry the banner of a precious message, lighting the lamps of awareness and prevention and carrying the flame of hope to protect society from the dangers of one of the greatest global threats, which is the danger of drugs and its dire repercussions on social security.”

For his part, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, said: “The political leadership pays great and continuous attention to combating addiction and abuse in accordance with an integrated national plan,” noting that the Ministry seeks, along with the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse, and all concerned parties, to make qualitative efforts and develop proactive plans towards organizing many… Of educational and awareness-raising events and activities.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi stressed the importance of the role of youth in building a healthy drug-free society, stressing the Ministry’s commitment to providing all means to support these initiatives, while emphasizing the role of awareness in reducing the phenomenon of addiction, and the necessity of disseminating correct information about the dangers of abuse and its impact on the individual and society. Pointing out that the youth participating in the training camp will spread awareness in youth centers to enhance awareness and drug prevention, praising the training simulation model with visual content as a first step in delivering information in a quick manner.

Sobhi praised the efforts made by the camp participants, calling on young people to be ambassadors for change in their communities, reviewing future plans to enhance awareness and rehabilitation programmes, pointing out the importance of cooperation between government institutions and civil society, and emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to supporting young people and their initiatives.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled Hassan Saeed, Governor of Alexandria, expressed his pride in attending this wonderful event, along with 1,000 young men and women who joined the Association of Anti-Addiction Fund Volunteers, appreciating the many efforts made by the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Fund in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in enhancing all means of cooperation to implement various activities aimed at Mainly to reduce exposure to addiction among various segments of society, stressing that Alexandria Governorate is fully prepared to provide full support to the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and to overcome all obstacles, as youth are the foundation and pillar of the Egyptian state and the future, pointing out that the Egyptian state during the past period was keen to intensify awareness programs. To protect young people from addiction and substance abuse, represented by the Fund’s field initiatives, door-knocking initiatives, family awareness initiatives for early detection and awareness of the dangers of addiction, and the inclusion of rehabilitation programs through coordination with the Literacy and Adult Education Authority.

The Governor of Alexandria praised the efforts of the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse in terms of implementing awareness programs to protect young people from narcotic substance abuse, as preventive programs were implemented in more than 400 schools at the governorate level, in addition to providing free treatment and rehabilitation for addiction patients, as well as early detection of abuse for workers in the administrative system. In the governorate, he thanked Dr. Maya Morsi, Minister of Social Solidarity and Chairman of the Fund’s Board of Directors, and Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, for the activities implemented throughout the governorate.
