The number of examination, inspection and approval visits carried out by the Department of Control of Packing Stations and Centers reached 34 visits, and the Department issued 1,053 export permits for agricultural crops to 783 exporting companies.
The number of food consignments exported, according to the report of the Authority’s General Administration Information Center for both Exports and Imports, reached 4,595 consignments, amounting to about 173 thousand tons, to 1,490 exporting companies, which varied between 640 types of vegetables, fruits, flour, and various food products.
Sweet potatoes topped the list of Egyptian vegetables exported this week as well, with 11,000 tons, followed by beans of all kinds, with a total of 8,000 tons, then onions, with a total of 7,500 tons. The total number of exported vegetables reached 70 types, amounting to about 43,000 tons.
Citrus fruits also topped the list of exported fruits last week, with a total of 18,000 tons, followed by strawberries, with 5,000 tons, then dates, with a total of 4,500 tons. The total number of types of exported fruits reached 38 types, amounting to about 37,000 tons.
Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Libya, and Turkey represented the largest countries receiving Egyptian exports during the past week, out of a total of 184 importing countries.
Cairo Airport Port ranked first in the number of food consignments exported from it with a total of 875 consignments, followed by Alexandria Port with 705 consignments, then Safaga Port with a total of 690 consignments.
The number of food consignments received reached 1,870 consignments, amounting to about 310,000 tons, to 870 importing companies, ranging from 242 varieties of wheat, soybeans and various oils, from 78 countries. Russia represented the largest country exporting to Egypt, followed by Ukraine, America and Australia.
Alexandria Port ranked first in the number of food consignments received, with a total of 580 consignments, followed by Cairo Airport Port, which ranked second with 334 consignments, then Damietta Port, with a total of 286 consignments.
The General Administration for Special Food Registration and Licensing registered 85 products and 8 companies and carried out 3 monitoring visits. The administration also examined 750 new products and issued 38 free sale certificates.
The Strategic Goods Administration carried out 13 inspection visits to wheat storage sites, as well as 3 inspection visits to rice mill sites in various governorates of the Republic.
The total number of complaints received to the Authority reached 27 complaints from various complaints receiving agencies (the electronic portal for the unified government complaints system – the Council of Ministers), the Consumer Protection Agency, in addition to complaints submitted directly to the Authority. 21 complaints were closed and 6 complaints are being examined.
Complaints Department inspectors carried out campaigns on 621 food establishments to ensure the safety of food products offered in the governorates of Ismailia, Sharqia, Gharbia, Dakahlia, Marsa Matrouh, Beheira, Assiut, Menoufia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sohag, New Valley, Aswan, Qena, Luxor, and North Sinai. , Hurghada and 10th of Ramadan, taking all necessary corrective measures in the event of any observations related to food safety requirements.
Regarding the activities of the Commercial Chain Control Department, 53 oversight missions were carried out on branches of commercial chain establishments to ensure that these establishments meet food safety requirements in a number of governorates of the Republic.
863 public store establishments with food activity were registered, and the Public Store Registration and Licensing Department conducted 531 inspections of public stores, while 404 establishments met the requirements of the National Food Safety Authority during the past week.
The Storage Facilities Control Department carried out 16 oversight missions over food stores in the governorates of Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Sohag, Menoufia, Sharkia, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, Minya, Cairo and Giza.
Regarding school nutrition stores, 5 stores were inspected during the past week in the governorates of Sharkia, Beheira and Sohag.
With regard to the management of dairy suppliers, 12 oversight missions were carried out over milk shops and milk collection centers in the governorates of Beheira, Dakahlia, Qena, Fayoum, Sharkia and Gharbia.
With regard to the management of licensing and oversight of tourist establishments, 64 visits were made, including periodic oversight and inspection of licenses in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, the Red Sea, Aswan, and Luxor.
The Mobile Food Units Department carried out 22 inspection missions on food units in the governorates of Cairo, Dakahlia, Qalyubia, Sharkia, Assiut, the Red Sea and Giza.
The Authority’s Grievances Committee examined 507 grievance requests received from various ports.
The General Administration of Slaughterhouses conducted 14 inspection visits to poultry and ostrich slaughterhouses and intestine factories, in addition to 59 follow-up visits to the manufacturing of natural animal packaging in intestine factories.
The administration issued 29 export permits for natural animal packaging to European Union countries after collecting samples and ensuring their compliance with requirements.
The slaughterhouse administration carried out a campaign on some manual and semi-automatic slaughterhouses in some neighborhoods of Giza, Sharqia and Fayoum governorates in order to familiarize those in charge of them with food safety requirements.
The door to exporting natural animal encapsulations (intestines) to the United States of America was opened after attending meetings with the United States Embassy and the American Animal and Plant Health Authority.
The Department of Control of Food Contact Materials Factories carried out 10 monitoring missions in the governorates of Giza, Qalyubia, Sharkia, Cairo and Gharbia, and 6 facilities were registered during the past week.
The General Administration for Fish and Aquatic Products Control carried out 15 monitoring visits to fishing boats/vessels, fish factories and suppliers, export companies, and processing units in various governorates of the Republic.

The Food Safety Branch in Gharbia Governorate implemented 30 extensive inspection campaigns on 220 food establishments to ensure the implementation of food safety requirements in the various cities and centers of the governorate (Tanta, Zefta, Qutour, Basyoun, Al-Santa, Kafr Al-Zayat, Al-Mahalla, Samanoud). These campaigns resulted in the arrest of… 1 ton of pickles, 300 kg of herring unfit for human consumption, and 300 kg of expired food products.
Within the framework of the awareness and educational role of the National Food Safety Authority to raise the level of public awareness towards improving food safety measures and promoting sound healthy food practices, 40 food establishments were visited and guidance was given to the necessity of adhering to food safety requirements in those establishments, and applying corrective measures, and 12 decisions were implemented. The Food Safety Branch in Damietta Governorate carried out 6 expanded inspection campaigns in cooperation with (the Deputy Head of the Local Unit for the Center and City, the Directorate of Supply, Veterinary Medicine, Health, the Consumer Protection Agency, the Governorate) on 49 food establishments within the scope of the Center and City of Kafr Saad. These campaigns resulted in the execution of… A quantity of various foodstuffs that had expired and had changed natural properties. The Food Safety Branch in Dakahlia Governorate carried out 20 inspection campaigns, some of which were joint with other regulatory authorities (City Council Presidency, Health Directorate, Veterinary Medicine, Supply, Supply Investigations, Consumer Protection Agency), where 117 food facilities were visited in centers and some villages within the governorate ( Mansoura, Mit Ghamr, Sinbellaween, Nabarouh, Beni Ubaid, Belqas, Minyat al-Nasr, Dikernes), and these campaigns resulted in the destruction of a quantity of food supplies. The branch of the Food Safety Authority in Sohag Governorate implemented several joint inspection campaigns with the General Administration of Supply, the Supply and Health Investigations, and the Consumer Protection Agency. A number of food establishments were visited in the centers of (Tahta, Gerga, and Al-Balina). These campaigns resulted in the destruction of 400 packages of food products. The branch also carried out 11 inspection campaigns on 34 food establishments in the villages and centers of (Bandar Sohag, Akhmim, Al-Balina, and Maragha), and a quantity of expired foodstuffs that were unfit for human consumption were destroyed. The Food Safety Branch in Beheira Governorate carried out 4 inspection campaigns on 31 food facilities in the Damanhour Center. These campaigns resulted in monitoring a quantity of food packages of various types, expired and with changed natural properties, and the necessary measures were taken regarding these foodstuffs by the Food Safety Authority inspectors.
The 10th of Ramadan Branch carried out 3 inspection campaigns on 50 food establishments in the 10th of Ramadan City, the city of Belbeis, and the city of Abu Hammad in Sharkia Governorate. These campaigns resulted in a deficiency in food safety requirements in those establishments, and they were alerted and given a period to rectify their conditions and avoid violations.
The Food Safety Authority branch in Aswan Governorate implemented 10 expanded inspection campaigns in coordination with the Supply Investigation Department, where 37 food establishments were visited. These campaigns resulted in the destruction of a quantity of expired food items that were unfit for human consumption. The owners of food establishments were also made aware of improving measures. The Food Safety Branch in the Sharkia Governorate carried out 6 inspection campaigns, passing through 34 food facilities within the centers of (Zagazig, Deir Najm, Belbeis, Abu Hammad, Faqus, Minya al-Qamh, Hahia and other centers), which resulted in the destruction of a quantity of expired food products. Not suitable for human consumption.
The Food Safety Branch in Menoufia Governorate carried out 6 inspection campaigns on 19 food facilities in some cities, centers and villages of the governorate (Shebin El-Kom, Quesna, Al-Shuhadaa, Tala). These campaigns resulted in the seizure of a quantity of various food products that had expired and were unfit for human consumption. All of these products are in the presence of a committee of National Food Safety Authority inspectors.
The Food Safety Branch in Assiut Governorate carried out several inspection campaigns on 9 food establishments, which resulted in the destruction of a quantity of expired food products. Pledges were also taken on establishments not registered with the authority to register and implement food safety requirements.
The branch also implemented an extensive inspection campaign in conjunction with the Governorate’s Supply Directorate, where 9 food establishments were visited, and the owners of the food establishments were made aware of improving food safety measures, and pledges were taken to implement the necessary requirements and register with the National Food Safety Authority.
