The Minister also held an expanded meeting with the Ministry’s leaders and affiliated bodies to review and discuss the most important files and work plans during the coming period to achieve the targets of the tourism and antiquities sector in Egypt.

The Minister was keen to tour the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, to greet the employees and workers, and to learn about the workflow mechanisms in the various departments and affiliated bodies. He was also keen to listen to the most prominent features of the Ministry’s strategy for digital transformation and what has been done to automate the services provided by the Ministry.

During his tour, the Minister stressed the importance of the role of the human element, noting his keenness to benefit from all the competencies and expertise available in the Ministry and its affiliated bodies, and appreciating the necessity of collective and institutional work.

Throughout the week, the Minister continued to hold bilateral meetings with a group of the Ministry’s leaders, to learn more about the Ministry’s work files, develop plans and mechanisms for the workflow during the coming period, and discuss the most important challenges facing the tourism and antiquities sector in Egypt, which will be worked on at the top of the Ministry’s priorities during the coming period.

During these meetings, future work plans were discussed to promote the Egyptian tourist destination in various tourist markets, which would contribute to attracting more incoming tourist traffic to Egypt, and a review of the most important draft laws currently being completed by the Ministry.

Ministers of Tourism and Investment discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two ministries

The Ministers of Tourism and Antiquities and Investment and Foreign Trade met to discuss ways to enhance further aspects of joint cooperation between the two ministries during the coming period, which would contribute to enhancing tourism investment, especially in the hotel sector, and attracting more local and foreign investments.

The initiative to be launched in the coming period to encourage and attract tourism investments and achieve the targeted tourist numbers was also discussed and reviewed.

The Minister participated in the fourth meeting of the parliamentary committee formed by a decision of the House of Representatives, which is concerned with discussing and studying the work program of the new government, where he presented the main determinants of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities’ program during the coming period, indicating that the Ministry’s strategy is based on achieving economic tourism security.

He also stressed that work will be done to enhance tourism investment in Egypt, especially in the hotel sector. He also stressed the importance of the role of aviation in the tourism industry in Egypt to reach the targeted tourist numbers, as well as the importance of capacity building, as the structure of the ministry and its affiliated bodies is currently being reviewed to achieve performance efficiency.

The Minister met with the UAE Ambassador to Cairo and the Permanent Representative to the Arab League to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the field of tourism and antiquities, and to explore tourism investment opportunities in Egypt.

The mechanisms for enhancing joint cooperation to attract more incoming tourism from the United Arab Emirates to Egypt were also discussed, and a working team from the Egyptian and Emirati sides was formed to follow up on what was discussed during the meeting.

The Minister met with the Italian Ambassador to Cairo to discuss mechanisms to enhance cooperation in the field of tourism and antiquities, explore tourism investment opportunities in Egypt, and prepare for the upcoming visit of the Italian Minister of Culture and Antiquities to Egypt in the coming period. The meeting reviewed ways to further support Egypt’s tourism promotion in Italy.

Future cooperation mechanisms were also reviewed, such as holding temporary archaeological exhibitions in Italy, cooperation in the field of digital transformation in museums, and benefiting from Italian expertise to develop display methods in museums and raise the efficiency of tourism services, restoration work, and training museum curators and hospitality workers in the tourism sector.

Yamna El-Bahar took the constitutional oath before the President of the Republic as Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities in the government of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Yamna Al-Bahar is one of the distinguished young talents and cadres from the Ministry’s sons with experience. She has held many leadership positions in the Ministry, where she held the position of Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Technical Affairs and Minister’s Office Affairs.

Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs Exhibition Opens in Cologne, Germany

The Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities opened the “Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs” exhibition at its fifth stop in the city of Cologne, Germany. The exhibition received a wide public turnout, as thousands of visitors from all German cities lined up to enter the exhibition and enjoy viewing some of the treasures of King Ramses II.

As part of the efforts of the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities and Civil Aviation to stimulate tourism and air traffic from abroad to Egyptian tourist attractions, Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport received the first direct flights of Air Cairo coming from the Spanish capital, Madrid, with 156 Spanish tourists on board, including a number of journalists and tourism writers.

Tourists were also received with flowers and souvenirs, and promotional materials were distributed about the various tourist attractions enjoyed by the Egyptian tourist destination, especially the tourist cities in South Sinai Governorate.

The Pyramids Archaeological Area received the famous American singer Jason Derulo. The visit included a tour inside the Great Pyramid, the Panorama Area, and the Sphinx, where he listened to a detailed explanation of the pyramid, how it was built, and what it includes in terms of chambers and corridors from the inside.

The American singer expressed his amazement at the archaeological area, and was keen to take memorial photos to commemorate this visit.

Uncovering paintings and inscriptions of some kings of the New and Late Kingdom eras under the waters of the Nile in Aswan

The Egyptian-French archaeological mission has uncovered a number of paintings and inscriptions of kings from the New Kingdom and Late Kingdom eras, during the work of the archaeological photographic survey project, for the first time, under the waters of the Nile in Aswan to study the rock inscriptions located between the Aswan Reservoir and the High Dam, discovered in the sixties of the last century.

The mission is working on producing three-dimensional models of the discovered inscriptions and studying them in preparation for publishing them to protect and preserve them. It is likely that new inscriptions and historical information about the history of ancient Egypt during the Eighteenth Dynasty and the Late Period will be discovered.
